Description
This course provides reading practice activities and tips to improve your score on the reading comprehension portion of the course in a way that simulates the test environment of the public service exams.
Most of the exercises and practice exams have a passing rate set at 80%. Don’t worry if you don’t achieve this level right away. If you are between 40-60%, you are likely to score a low B on the public service exams. An 80% should put you towards a high B or low C on the exams. A score of 90% or higher should put you in a high C to low E score. We recommend doing the practice questions and exams until you can score 80%.
Print Certificate
A certificate is available at the end of the course.

For reading practice, we recommend reading government documents as the primary sources. Go to Canada.ca in English, type in a subject you are interested in, find a document, then switch the page to French. There is an abundant amount of translated or original French texts with government lingo. This has proven to be a very good resource of official texts and practice. While there are sometimes errors in translated publications, this are still suitable for reading practice while also being free.
The following links are sites that we have found particularly helpful for practicing reading French. Some also have videos. Copy the link or right click with your mouse and select “go to…” in the picklist that appears (Windows computers).
